Oh, Hi there! I'm glad you decided to pay my humble website a
visit. You'll be glad to know that behind the creation and
maintenance of this site there is a real live human person (!!!).
Here's a few things about me:
On the internet I go by flamebladed or Sword (they/them). I'm a
fashion student, I'm very fond of science fiction and I just
really like making stuff.
Interests:
- Star Trek
- Neopets
- Fashion (mostly historical or alternative)
- Arms and Armour
- Tarot
Hobbies
- Sewing
- Embroidery
- Drawing
- Gaming
- Messing around with HTML & CSS
This is just a little personal website, where I can put things I
would like to share on the interwebs. You can find all sorts of
things there on the navigation.
What's in each section?
- Artwork: Digital and traditional illustrations made by
yours truly
- Crafts: Things I made IRL with my own two hands.
Sewing, embroidery, bookbinding, etc.
- Projects: Other stuff I make! DnD stuff, writings, the
sort
- Blog: Personal Journal
- Bookmarks: Cool and interesting websites
Ok, so here's the deal. I, as many others, am sick and tired of
most social media sites. I hate the way they make me feel, I hate
chasing the algorithm, stressing over follower engagement,
managing notifications, etc. It feels terrible, I'm sick and tired
of it and I miss the old web terribly.
Wasn't it nice when the internet felt like a wonderful place,
full of things to discover? Wasn't it nice when one could have at
least a modicum of control over their online experience? Some
agency over how and when and why they chose to interact with the
web? Those are the kinds of question that eventually brought me
here, to Neocities.
I've known about static websites and HTML for a while. Hell, I
learned the basics of HTML coding on Neopets at age 8. I've
learned image editing and digital drawing because I wanted to make
images to put on the internet. The old web has been hugely
influential in my life in ways I cannot begin to describe, so it
feels fitting to attempt to return to something similar.
So, here I am! With my little Neocities website, having the time
of my life. Only time will tell whether or not I'll be able to
maintain it long term, but hey, I'll try my best.
When I was browsing for templates for this website (because I was
definitely not going to do the code from scratch), I came across
this Repth layout and I completely fell in love. It's incredibly
nostalgic, and it's exactly the type of layout I was using back in
like 2005 or so, for both my neopet pages and my blogger blog. So
that's why I chose this one, I just needed to change around some of
the graphics and it would be perfect.
About the graphics
Several of the graphics on this website were
edited by little old me. Here's some interesting info about them.
HEADER: At first I thought about
doing a custom illustration for the header, but while looking for a
placeholder I found this really lovely illustration by Harry Clarke,
and thought it fit perfectly what I was going for. It's originally
from a 1900's edition of Faust, you can see the full illustration
here.
BLOG: The blog layout was edited
from the basic Zonelets theme to match this main layout. The bottom
border features an illustration by Charles Robinson for "The Cloud
Kingdom" (1908). If you want to check out the full illustration,

TV: I wanted to have a little TV
gif that played Star Trek but couldn't really find any that I liked,
so I set out to make my own. I got the clips from a
1991
promo for "Star Trek - The Astral Symphony", a compilation
album with music from the first 5 Star Trek movies.
BUTTON: The purple
"flame-bladed dagger" was
very loosely inspired by a
parrying
dagger I found on the MET museum website, as well as some of
the sword designs I found on
GifCities.
I did the pixel art on Libresprite.
This is a list of all the website pages that are completely set up
and ready to be viewed. If it's not on this list, it's not finished
yet!
Feel free to explore any of those pages at your leisure. I hope
you have a nice time exploring my website!
